Review of HE Guidelines to Endorsement
Review of ETS Wales Guidelines to the Professional Endorsement of Higher Education Programmes in Youth Work
ETS Committee Wales produces Guidelines which contain the requirements that Higher Education institutions in Wales must follow if they wish to deliver professionally endorsed, JNC recognised programmes in youth & community work.
There are equivalent guidelines produced by ETS Wales' counterparts in England, Scotland and all-Ireland. The guidelines are developed by employers in the relevant youth work sectors as it is important that youth work qualifications develop practitioners who can meet their needs and those of young people. Professional endorsement by ETS Wales ensures qualifications are quality checked and fit for purpose.
The ETS Wales guidelines were produced in 2010 so we would like your assistance to bring them up to date and ensure they are relevant to your needs.
The guidelines, which are available here, are presented in four sections plus appendices:
1. Policy context of youth work in Wales
2. Nature and purpose of Professional Endorsement
3. Specific criteria and evidence requirements
4. Description of the endorsement process.
The first two Sections are being updated by ETS Committee representatives to reflect the current policy environment in Wales, while Section four describes a well-established process that may need only minor changes. If you have comments on these sections they would, of course, be welcomed but in the first instance we would like you to concentrate your comments or suggested amendments to Section three as these contain the specific requirements. Once all feedback has been collated, a full final draft will be circulated for further comment.
A Word version of Section three is attached for your comments. Please could you download the document, track changes and email it back to elizabeth.rose@wlga.gov.uk by 30 November 2016.
Apologies, but please note that the current guidelines are available only in English and they will be translated once finalised.
